Lions Club Seychelles (District 411A) donates metal bars and sheets to Seychelles Institute of Technology

Melvin Jones Fellowship - Lions Club Seychelles (District 411A) donated raw materials such as mild steel bars, copper solid round bars, shafting round bars and MS sheets to Seychelles Institute of Technology for the purpose of training learners in welding and machining on 28th November 28, 2018 at 10:30AM.

The handing over Ceremony was held at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Seychelles Institute of Technology, Providence Industrial area, Mahe in the presences of the Office Bearers of Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) - Lions Club Seychelles (District 411A) and Management, Staff and Students of Seychelles Institute of Technology.

The event was attended by Lions Club President Mr. D.V.Sharma, Mr. Rajesh Mathur, MJF President, Mrs. Gopi Dubasia, MJF Secretary, Mrs. Sureta Mathur, MJF Treasurer, Mr. Keshra V. Bhudia, CEO (Shreeji Group), Mr. Sivashamugam Pillay, Ex secretary MJF and Members of Melvin Jones Fellowship - Lions Club Seychelles (District 411A). The donation was received by the Director of SIT Mr. Hubert Barbé in the presence of  Ms. Rubina Ernesta, Coordinator of Studies, SIT, Ms. Pauldina Lajoie, Head of Programme for Mechanical Engineering Department, Office Manager, SIT Mrs. Daniella Houareau-Bonnelame, Student Support Officer, Ms. Cecile Francoise other Heads of Programmes, Department of Mechanical Engineering Lecturers other Staff of SIT and Learners. Mr. Barbé, Director of SIT in his acceptance speech, stated that he was very thankful to MJF Lions club for this donation, which is going to be very helpful in training the learners in the latest skills in the field of Mechanical Engineering.  

Mr. Barbé indicated that some of the metal bars received are not easily available for purchasing locally, but which are required for training of the learners on the mechanical engineering programmes.   He also requested that NGO’s such as MJF- Lions Club Seychelles should come forward in the future to help SIT in terms of further donations of materials and other training equipment. Mr. Keshra V. Bhudia in his speech stated that MJF-Lions Club Seychelles is very happy in donating the raw materials to SIT because it helps the learners in practicing with the latest available technology that is being used in Seychelles presently.

He also stated that such donations will help a lot in the skill building capacity of learners. The ceremony ended with Mr. Rajesh Mathur handing over a steel bar to Mr. Barbé and a group photograph of all invitees.
